12/04/05 - EUROPE UPDATE: LONDON DAY 3, LAST DAY OF EUROPE

LONDON DAY 3, THE FINAL DAY IN EUROPE AND THE TRIP BACK MARK and I hopped on a train out of PARIS to LONDON at approx 1pm. We were finally well rested. We didn’t say much on the trip back, each listening to our respective sources of music and reminiscing about our trip (actually, I think MARK was sleeping). As we neared LONDON, we began to perk up and it donned on us that this was our last day in EUROPE, we’d better make it good. There was a lady named CATHY that’d been calling MARK. She’d invited us to a party with 200 little people a few days earlier, but we couldn’t make it cuz we were in a different country. She was a fan of MARK’s website and really wanted to meet him. We decided that would be our first stop. We hopped off the train and immediately got on another. We emerged in a part of LONDON we hadn’t been to yet, somewhere over near the university. We walked to her house and waited for her to come out and greet us. We were making bets between us about what she looked like, we were both wrong. She was a little person herself, and not just that, but a little person with an attitude. I couldn’t help put laugh as she ragged on MARK and told him what a celebrity he’s not. It was so funny. She invited us over just to torment the guy. Hilarious. We all went to get food and I decided to call my ex-fiance, TESS. Turned out she lived in the same neighborhood. She said we should come over once we were done eating. We ate at little pub/thai restaurant with a funny name. we befriended a couple Italian ladies while we ate. The food sucked, but the entertainment was good, namely the goofing between CATHY and the rest of us. After dinner, she bid her farewell and we went over to TESS’s. it was great to see her and her friends again. They all have unbelievably thick british accents (cuz they’re from Nottingham) and all I wanna do is make fun. We drank wine and briefly caught up, but we couldn’t stay long. We had to go meet up with L.A. native, CASSIE and the british posse she rolls with, that we’d been hanging out with our entire time in EUROPE. We stashed our bags at their place and headed off to our first stop of the evening, a little hole in the wall music venue. Some new band was playing and everyone was ‘psyched.’ TESS met me there to keep me company. I couldn’t tell you how the band was, didn’t see them. I spent the entire show guzzling beers and catching up on old times with TESS. We talked about everything. The last year, current events, relationships, everything. We threw it all out there, and as we went into intimate, almost grotesque detail, I fond myself really missing her. We still had it. It made me really happy to find that out. The show ended and it was time to go to the next stop. At this point I was totally wasted. We walked outside and I felt alive again. I was coursing with energy. We tried to go to a dance club, but they wouldn’t let us in, so as a posse, we wandered the streets of London, jumping in and out of things, yelling and digging up any kind of mischief we could. We passed some street workers that were replacing an advertisement in these huge, circular light boxes they have up everywhere and convinced the guy to let us climb in. I’d stop at hot dog stands, and while some one else would bullshit the guy, graffiti ‘iheartcomix’ on the front of the stands. We finally ended up at some restaurant to bide our time until we could get in the club that wouldn’t let us in, in the first place. TESS went home cuz she had school the next morning. The rest of us ate desert and continued drinking. It was already 3am, but we didn’t want it to end. We tried getting back in the club again after food, but they wouldn’t have us. Any amount of pleading or prodding wouldn’t make a difference. It looked like for us, the LONDON night life was over. CHECK THE PHOTOS: http://www.thecobrasnake.com/partyphotos/lastnitelondon/index.html We ended up crashing at MIKE SKINNER’s (THE STREETS) house again. We woke up fairly early and made our way to HEATHROW AIRPORT. I didn’t want to leave, but I was excited to go home too. It’d been two weeks and I start to feel like an asshole if I’m not at our regular nights in L.A. AIR INDIA welcomed us back with open arms. The flight consisted of more curry and me struggling to find a power source. Tip: if you need to plug something in on a big plane, there are usually outlets by the emergency exits. Use them! It’s rad. We landed in NEW YORK and switched planes for the final leg home. We were in the air for 16 hours total and once we stepped off that plane in LOS ANGELES, we stepped right into HALLOWEEN madness. I went straight to LOOSE TOOTH and didn’t sleep the whole rest of the weekend. Coming this spring…. EUROPE TRIP part 2……
